TCS receives USD3.4m in incremental funding from US Army for SNAP deployable satellite systems

Jan 14, 2013 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- TeleCommunication Systems Inc (TCS) (Nasdaq:TSYS), a provider of secure mobile communication technology, announced on Friday the receipt of USD3.4m in incremental funding from the US Army for equipment, field services support and maintenance of Secure Internet Protocol Router and Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router Access Point (SNAP) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite systems equipment.

Reportedly, the US Army Project Manager for the Warfighter Information Network - Tactical (PM WIN-T) Commercial Satellite Terminal Programme is funding these procurements through the Army's USD5.0bn World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle.

TCS said that its SNAP VSAT systems provide multimedia communications capabilities which convey encrypted voice, video and data. Also, the systems are highly transportable and ruggedised and have a graphical user interface that facilitates easy set-up and operation.
