Tanglewood Leverages PermissionTV's Interactive Features to Bring Its Summer Concert Series to Life on the Web
(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WALTHAM, MA, August 18 / MARKET WIRE/ --
Building on the initial success of the Boston
Pops' online video initiative, the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) and PermissionTV, a leading online
video platform provider, have expanded the interactive experience to
showcase the Tanglewood summer concert series on the Web. The 2008 Festival
of Contemporary Music celebrated the award-winning collections of renowned
composer Elliott Carter and is available at TanglewoodWebTV.org. Fans can
access interactive videos, behind-the-scenes interviews with orchestra
members, an exclusive tour of the Tanglewood grounds and a comprehensive
documentary about Carter.
"We have created a dynamic online video experience with the intimacy of a
live concert and the one-to-one engagement that only the Web can provide,"
said Kim Noltemy, Director of Sales, Marketing and Communication, BSO.
"Now, Pops and Tanglewood enthusiasts, as well as those who have never
experienced a live event, can access award-winning performances,
behind-the-scenes footage, conductor lessons and other valuable content
within the video experience from the comfort and convenience of their own
home. With PermissionTV, we've built on our initial success by quickly
creating a highly engaging Tanglewood experience and expanding our online
video initiative."
The BSO, which already features the nation's most highly trafficked
orchestra website, partnered with PermissionTV in 2007 to create and
deliver the first-ever online video experience featuring an orchestra.
After the success of BostonPops.TV,
the orchestra has now expanded its online video initiative to reach
Tanglewood fans. PermissionTV enables clients like the BSO to quickly
create customized, interactive experiences that can scale to meet evolving
marketing goals. To see more about the goals, challenges and results of
BSO's online video initiative, visit:

"It's no longer about posting video to the Web and hoping to create
interest and traffic," said Bob Lentz, President and CEO, PermissionTV.
"Cultural pioneers like the BSO understand the value of dynamic online
video experiences and are pushing the medium beyond the passive, linear
user experiences of Video 1.0. With PermissionTV's Video 2.0 platform, the
BSO can now convert casual viewers into engaged participants, reach a
larger audience and generate more traffic, interest and revenue on both the
Pops and Tanglewood sites."
Tanglewood's 2008 Festival of Contemporary Music showcased Carter's music
as played by artists including Brent Besner, Virgil Blackwell, John
Harbison, Jo Ellen Miller and Lucy Shelton. This content will be available
at TanglewoodWebTV.org until
Carter's birthday, December 11th. For more information on the summer lineup
