Takeda sells stake in vitamin bulk firm to BASF Japan+

(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)TOKYO, Jan. 5_(Kyodo) _ Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. said Thursday it transferred to BASF Japan Ltd. the previous day all of its 34 percent interest in BASF Takeda Vitamin K.K., a joint venture selling bulk vitamins.



The transfer was conducted for an undisclosed sum of money in accordance with the original agreement between Takeda and the subsidiary of the German chemicals maker. The agreement stipulated that the operations of BASF Takeda be handed over to BASF Japan five years after its founding in January 2001.

BASF Takeda is a major supplier of bulk vitamins and other pharmaceutical ingredients.
