Sylvia McLean named Cumberland County's Community Development Director [The Fayetteville Observer, N.C. :: ](Fayetteville Observer (NC) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 15--Sylvia McLean has been named Cumberland County's Community Development Director. Interim County Manager Amy Cannon made the appointment, which was announced Monday. McLean, who is 52 and a Harnett County native, has worked in the Community Development department since 2001. She was serving as the department's business manager when she was appointed director on April 7. McLean's annual salary will be $80,000, according to a county news release. Her professional experience includes more than 13 years working for City of Raleigh Community Development in administration, the release said, and she has worked for Harnett County government. McLean holds professional certifications as a certified budget and evaluation officer and Housing Development Finance professional through the N.C. Local Government Budget Association and the National Development Council. She has completed certification training through U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Financial Management and Governance, in addition to community development and finance officer training and coursework at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government. Community Development's mission is to preserve and expand the supply of safe, affordable and decent housing in North Carolina.
