SureWest Announces Addition to Management Team


ROSEVILLE, Calif., April 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Leading independent telecommunications holding company SureWest Communications announced today that Scott Sommers has been named Vice President, Treasurer and will report to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Phil Grybas as part of the company's management committee.

In this role, Sommers will lead all treasury functions, including cash management, investor relations, banking and financial institution relationships; directing the planning, procurement and investment funds for SureWest. Sommers will also have executive responsibility for the human resource functions at SureWest.

Most recently, the 22-year banking and finance veteran served as managing director of investment banking for Cantor Fitzgerald in Los Angeles, CA, where he was responsible for developing new clients and the sales of all investment banking products. He previously worked for Mellon Financial Group from 1998- 2004 as its first vice president, global institutional clients, relationship manager. He served as vice president, team leader for both KBC (1996-1998) and Union Bank of Switzerland (1987-1996). Sommers began his career in 1984 as a corporate research analyst at the First National Bank of Boston before becoming an associate at Security Pacific National Bank in 1986.
The 48-year-old Sommers earned his bachelor's degree in history and psychology from the University of Iowa in 1981 and possesses a master's degree in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management in Phoenix, AZ.
