Suit up with Dutch Fashion Designer Allan Vos at NCKU

TAINAN, Taiwan --(Business Wire)--

Dutch Designer Allan Vos is in Taiwan for six weeks to make National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) students acquainted with the fashion aspect of the Creative Industries, the university revealed today.

As part of the Dutch Design Course in Industrial Design Department, NCKU students help Allan Vos in finding production opportunities in Tainan for his new collection.

The end goal is a presentation of this collection on December 4 at the Dutch Design Post, 321 Artist Village in Tainan.

So far, Vos has been in Tainan for only two weeks, but he is already impressed with the students' efforts. "I'm here to find manufacturers for my 'ready to wear'-collection and the students are really helpful in this respect. I'm used to do everything by myself, but here I face language and cultural barriers, so I have no other choice than to rely on them."

"The students go out for me to find factories, stores or studios in Tainan that produce, sell or work with garments. They establish contacts, check the prices and quantity. In regard to the quantity, it is important for me to keep it less than 100 pieces, simply because 'Allan Vos' is a beginning brand."

Finding manufacturers who produce in small quantities is no easy task as Industrial Design student Jason Lai experienced. "Most manufacturers like you to buy fabric in large quantity, so our job is quite time consuming. Luckily, this week, I can prepare some design stuff like flyers and invitation cards for the upcoming event at 321 Artist Village. I'm much better at that."

Janice Huang, another team member from the Industrial Design department, agrees that finding resources for Allan is hard work. She said, "After all these searches for rhyme stones and garment, I'm looking forward to doing some editing and PR work for the event at 321 Artist Village."

In addition to exploring production opportunities, the students now start working together with Vos to do a fashion shoot.

The results of this shoot will eventually be presented on December 4 at 321 Artist Village, Vos said.
