Stigler woman arrested for breaking and entering, drinking tea

MCALESTER, Feb 14, 2012 (McAlester News-Capital - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A Stigler woman has been arrested for breaking and entering into two homes on Yellow Rock Road in the Longtown area of Eufaula.

Joey Brittany Taylor, 21, was charged Wednesday with two counts of breaking and entering dwelling without permission and one count of public intoxication in Pittsburg County District Court.

According to court records, Pittsburg County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy James was dispatched to the Longtown area to investigate a possible burglary. When he arrived, he met with Brenda Prentice, who told James that when she arrived home she found a woman sitting at her kitchen table drinking a glass of tea. According to the affidavit, the woman sitting at the table, later identified as Taylor, did not respond to Prentice when she asked Taylor if she needed help. When Prentice approached Taylor and asked why she was in her house, Taylor said "she was invited." Taylor then became agitated and ran out the back door and across the street, where she went into Randy Johnson's home, according to court records, and was lacated there by authorities.

According to James' affidavit, Taylor was disoriented and confused. "I asked Joey (Taylor) if she had taken any meds or done any drugs today and she (allegedly) stated yes," the affidavit states. "I asked her what she used and she (allegedly) stated 'meth.'" Taylor was arrested and transported to the Pittsburg County Jail. She was released Friday after paying a $2,500 bond. If convicted of these crimes, Taylor faces up to one year in jail for each of the breaking and entering charges and up to one year for the public intoxication charge. She is due back in court March 27 at 9 a.m. to face charges.
