STERLING COMMERCE: Sterling Commerce Multi-Channel Selling solution strongly supports FCI e-commerce strategy; Leading connector manufacturer sees 40 percent increase in e-catalog use

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
RDATE:14102008

London, UK -- Sterling Commerce, an AT&T Inc (NYSE:T) company,
announced that FCI, a leading supplier of connectors and interconnect
systems for the automotive, telecom, industrial, medical, consumer and
energy markets, has implemented Sterling Multi-Channel Selling in order
to extend catalog and e-commerce capabilities to its customers and
distributors in Europe, the Asia Pacific region and the U.S. The
Sterling Commerce solution for FCI delivers refined search,
multi-language and e-catalog capabilities from simple part number
search to complex search in support of the company's long-term
web-strategy to differentiate itself in a competitive market.

Sterling Multi-Channel Selling allows FCI to synchronise selling and
order management across channels, enabling customers and partners to
find, configure, and order the right products and services across all
available touchpoints, including web. Enhanced e-catalog capabilities
enable FCI's customers to find the best price, review products and
source associated technical information in one location. Sterling
Commerce also provides customised information through profile
management to support FCI marketing strategy by targeting its
privileged customers with added value content and services.

FCI selected Sterling Multi-Channel Selling based on its functionality
and multiple language capabilities to support their operations across
30 countries. The Sterling Commerce solution also stood out from the
rest based on its strong search functionality. The integrated ordering
and scalable business-to-business functionality of the solution will be
essential in allowing FCI to evolve its e-commerce offering over time.
FCI has rolled out English, Chinese, and Japanese language versions of
Sterling Multi-Channel Selling, with plans to offer additional
languages in the future.

Our website is a business tool. Sterling Multi-Channel Selling has
helped FCI leverage its product information across divisions. Now our
customers and prospects can quickly and easily find and research the
right products on our website, which has enabled us to enhance the
customer experience and increase customer satisfaction," said Michel
Safir, head of strategy, FCI. "Looking to the future, it is critical
that FCI remains flexible and adaptable as the market evolves and our
customers' needs grow. Sterling Commerce allows us to build upon our
long-term website strategy and provides us with a competitive
differentiation for future growth."

The website has become a significant part of FCI's business with 60
percent of its one million website visitors a month using it to search
across 94,000 connector products and download an average of 50,000
Adobe Acrobat documents a month. Sterling Multi-Channel Selling is
integrated real-time with its back-end system via web services. Added
functionality, such as targeted promotions and private catalogs is also
included.

"FCI is a great example of how Sterling Multi-Channel Selling works
well across an international business," said Ronald Teijken, industry
executive for manufacturing operations EMEA, Sterling Commerce.
"Consolidation of resources is an essential component for e-commerce as
customers want choice and accessibility. Making the e-catalog simpler
to use for the distributors, procurement managers and engineers will in

turn encourage repeat business in a highly competitive market segment."

Sterling Multi Channel Selling, part of the Sterling Multi Channel
Selling and Fulfillment Suite, synchronises selling and order
management across selling channels to drive measurable improvements in
sales. It complements and extends existing enterprise resource planning
(ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) investments by
automating marketing, guided selling, quotes and proposals, and order
management processes that extend beyond the four walls of an enterprise.
