Start the new financial year with better budget plans for IT
Apr 11, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
As the new financial year begins, Andrew Gilbert, Managing Director of data centre firm, Node4, says companies should think wisely about where their IT budgets are spentthis year if they are to maximise ROI and prevent costly errors.
According to Andrew, the new financial year will give IT managers the opportunity to make tactical changes to the way they operate to prepare them for future challenges. Among the major considerations that many companies will make over the coming year will be whether to move to a cloud infrastructure, and what implications this would have.
He said, "Price and productivity are the two words that will ring true for businesses this year. All firms will want their IT to work more efficiently and enable their staff to increase output but at the same time, they don't want these solutions to cost the earth. That's why the benefits of cloud computing will become more apparent for businesses who are assessing how their budgets will be spent. A shift away from capital expenditure to ongoing operational expenditure will make things much more manageable for businesses concerned with large upfront commitments to new hardware and services.
"Planning IT spend is now much more sophisticated thansimply choosing the lowest priced pieces of equipment to save relatively modest amounts of money. For some companies, making more dynamic changes to the way their services are delivered can bring about much more effective results. The adoption of cloud computing will improve at a much faster rate when more businesses are prepared to make these changes."
Node4recently extended its offering of data centre and communications solutions with the introduction of n4Cloud- aninfrastructure that offers organisations flexibility by allowing them to build their own bespoke cloud-based solution using a 'pick and mix' approach to encourage cost reduction. Andrew Gilbert concluded, "Businesses should be prepared for various challenges that will be presented to them over the next financial year.
The type of service they use is important, but so is the provider of these services. We are extremely proud of our achievements when it comes to security and business continuity. Avoiding the loss of service, or even worse, the loss of data, will also be key in preventing unnecessary spend."
