Stab suicide of ex-Tesco chief's wife ; TRAGEDY [Mirror (UK)]
(Mirror (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) A FORMER Tesco director's wife has stabbed herself to death two weeks after becoming a grandmother.
Retired teacher and mother-of-two Bernie McConchie, 57, was found with a single knife wound at her pounds 700,000 home.
Her husband Neil, 59, a Tesco director in the 1980s and boss of logistics firm Lloyd Fraser, is being comforted by his family.
Neighbour Keith Griffin said: "I can't believe it. She was a lovely woman who was great fun to be with."
Friend Kevin Smith added: "Bernie was a lovely, quiet Irish lady. It's sad to hear she's gone."
Mrs McConchie was found on Wednesday, two weeks after her son Connor, 31, became a father. Her daughter Maria, 30, is head of the legal department at software giant Experian.
Police say the death in Milton Malsor, Northants, is not suspicious.
