Sprint Receives Perfect Score in Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index 2008

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. --(Business Wire)-- For the third consecutive year, Sprint (NYSE:S) has received a perfect 100% rating on the Human Rights Campaign's annual Corporate Equality Index. The Corporate Equality Index 2008, released today, rated 519 major U.S. companies from a wide range of industries on how they treat their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) employees, consumers and investors.

"At Sprint, diversity is an essential part of the way we do business," said Sandy Price, senior vice president of Human Resources, Sprint. "We're working hard to create an inclusive workplace that ensures all voices and points of view are valued and respected. This, in turn, allows us to reach a broader base of customers with products and services that truly add value to their lives. Recognition like this from the Human Rights Campaign reinforces that this business approach is not just the smart thing to do; it's the right thing to do."

The Corporate Equality Index rates companies on a number of external and internal factors such as marketing and advertising, non-discrimination policies, and diversity management and training. Results are reported based on both company and industry. From an industry perspective, the Corporate Equality Index 2008 ranked 14 companies in the Telecommunications category. The average score within this group was 87%, and Sprint was one of only five Telecommunications companies to receive a perfect 100% score. The average score across all companies regardless of industry was 81%.

Sprint has been widely recognized for its commitment to inclusion and diversity.
