Wi-Fi Adoption - The Reality (Graphic: Business Wire) By next year, more traffic will be offloaded from cellular networks on to Wi-Fi than remains on cellular networks, according to the Cisco (News - Alert) Visual Networking Index (VNI). And by 2017, 60 percent of cellular network traffic will be offloaded to Wi-Fi, the Wireless Broadband Association says. All this opens new opportunities and challenges for carriers as they prepare for the next-generation mobile infrastructure -one that seamlessly hands off subscribers between cellular and Wi-Fi networks.
