Spectrum Bridge Launches iPhone Application for TV White Spaces

Spectrum Bridge, a provider of software solutions that address the global spectrum shortage, announced the release of its Show My White Space application for the iPhone.
According to Spectrum, the Show My White Space application accesses the same Spectrum Bridge ShowMyWhiteSpace database that powers the world's first TV whitespaces network the company deployed in Claudville, Virginia in October 2009. Because TV white spaces availability varies significantly across the country, the application allows users to determine exactly how much TV white spaces bandwidth is available based on their current location.
With TV white spaces devices potentially hitting the market in 2010, users will be able to leverage the application to find available frequencies that can be used to:
-Deliver high-speed Internet connections to their smartphones, netbooks and laptops
-Extended range and reliability of home and enterprise WiFi networks
-Power long-range cordless phone and video systems, create whole-house media distribution and many other new bandwidth intensive applications
-Create a wireless communications network for a broad range of enterprise and industrial applications including smart grid, smart city, telemedicine and other mobile internet applications
"Our iPhone application is further demonstration of Spectrum Bridge's leadership in the TV white spaces and licensed spectrum database arena," said Peter Stanforth, CTO and cofounder of Spectrum Bridge. "Spectrum Bridge's mission is to help public and private network operators solve critical spectrum constrains by making more spectrum, more available, to more people."
Spectrum Bridge's Show My White Space application is available for the iPhone now and can be downloaded for free at the Apple App Store.
