Sonus Products Ranks on the U.S. Department of Defense Approved Products List [Professional Services Close - Up]

(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sonus Networks reported that the Sonus SBC 5110 and Sonus SBC 5210 Session Border Controllers (SBCs) have completed the interoperability testing and information assurance certification for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) UCR2013 requirements and are posted on the JITC's Approved Products List (APL).

According to a release from the Company, the JITC APL provides a list of certified technology products for deployment in the U.S. DoD. The SBC 5110 and the SBC 5210 join the Sonus NX 1000 IP Access Switch, Promina 800 Multiplexor and VX 900, which are currently listed on the JITC's APL.

The SBC 5110 and SBC 5210 are high-performance SBCs that deliver exceptional scale and capacity to secure and enable real-time communications including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), video and Unified Communications (UC) applications. The SBC 5110 and SBC 5210 are designed to help enterprises, service providers and government agencies protect their networks, ensure high quality voice and video communications and reduce costs through more efficient IP-based network architecture.

The DISA UCR2013 is a rigorous testing process that features interoperability and information assurance tests to validate and certify vendor products for operation in DoD networks. The addition of the SBC 5110 and SBC 5210 to the APL will give options that would offer agencies more flexibility and higher performance when building out their VoIP and UC networks.

"Defense agencies have the same challenges any enterprise does with integrating disparate unified communications systems and session border controllers are a critical tool for accomplishing that," says John Burke, Principal Research Analyst with Nemertes Research. "By achieving JITC APL certification, Sonus greatly expands the options available to these organizations for empowering, managing and securing unified communications."
