Solacia to Provide the High-Capacity USIM Cards for 4G Banking, Education, and Transportation Services

(Market Wire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ORLANDO, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/22/11 -- CTIA Wireless -- Solacia, the leading smart card business integrator, today announced that it would deliver high-capacity USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) cards for the next-generation of 4G services from Verizon and other mobile providers. Solacia is the winner of the top ten hottest Korean companies selected by the Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and will be showcased at CTIA Wireless show at booth #1750.

The three leading U.S. mobile phone carriers -- AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile -- jointly created ISIS, a national mobile commerce network that will enable users with USIM cards to access popular transit ticketing applications, mobile credit card applications, membership loyalty programs, and mobile banking services that enable subscribers to make contactless withdrawals from ATMs and to trade stock and coupons.

"Led by our passion to realize the potential of smart card applications, Solacia is helping to fundamentally transform how people shop, pay, and save," said Yoon-Ky Park, Solacia CEO. "By 2015, nearly half of all mobile phones will include NFC functions. Korea's mobile providers foresee a mobile payments market of US$145 billion by then, and the US market will be potentially four times as big." With the 4G infrastructure coming into place, the planned commercial launch of NFC (Near Frequency Communication) technology will enable the replacement of nonstandard, contactless SIM cards and phones with high capacity USIM cards with up to a gig of flash memory.
