SOCAR PRESIDENT MEETS LIBYAN DEPUTY FM

Baku, Nov 26, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) --
President of Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev met with Mohammad Al Barrani, deputy minister of Libyan Foreign Affairs, the co-chair of a Libya-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission.

Abdullayev spoke of the history of Azerbaijan`s oil industry and the country`s achievements in this field.

On prospects for energy cooperation between the two countries, he said Azerbaijan is ready to assist Libya in searching for onshore oilfields.



Abdullayev also touched upon a forthcoming meeting of the intergovernmental commission, expressing confidence it will contribute to developing Azerbaijan-Libya relations.

Mohammad Al Barrani, in turn, said Libya is interested in building energy cooperation with Azerbaijan, which he characterized as the world`s pioneer of oil extraction industry.
