Snowboarding: Nakashima, Murakami win at Kissmark Cup+
(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)SAPPORO, Jan. 15_(Kyodo) _ Olympic medal hopeful Shiho Nakashima won the second-day women's halfpipe title at the Kissmark Cup snowboarding competition Sunday while Daisuke Murakami prevailed in the men's halfpipe.
Nakashima, who skipped the first-day race, won with 33.8 points to beat Yoko Miyake by 2.6 and Kaori Mitsui took third with 27.6 at the Makomanai ski course in Hokkaido.
In the men's halfpipe final, Murakami edged younger brother and Turin Olympic rider Fumiyuki Murakami by 2.0 to claim the title with 41.9 points. Kohei Kudo followed in third with 35.7.
Among the snowboarders bound for next month's Turin Olympics, Domu Narita settled for sixth and Takaharu Nakai eighth in the men's halfpipe. Chikako Fushimi finished fourth in the women's halfpipe while Melo Imai, third on Saturday, withdrew citing a back injury.
