SiteMinder partners Genting Deal to generate online bookings and optimise Gentings distribution channels [Malay Mail (Malaysia)]
(Malay Mail (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KUALA LUMPUR: GENTING MALAYSIA Bhd has signed a deal with international online distributor SiteMinder to expand the booking presence on the web for the world's third biggest hotel -- the 6,118- room First World Hotel.
The deal will see SiteMinder distributing a combined 10,000-room inventory to third party booking websites to generate online bookings and optimise Genting's distribution around the world.
Dubbed the 'Fun City Above the Clouds' and often billed as the Las Vegas of Southeast Asia, Resorts World Genting is a huge, mountain-top resort complex including the two, brightly painted 28- storey towers of First World Hotel, which is ranked as the world's third largest hotel after Moscow's 7500-room Izmailovo Hotel and the 6582-room MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The integrated mountain top resort draws about 20 million visitors a year as Resorts World Genting boasts five hotels, a casino, 50 theme park rides, 100 restaurants, shopping centre, 'mega' stage productions, a large convention centre and a 3.4km- long cable car system.
Resorts World Genting was also voted the world's best casino resort five times between 2005 and 2010 at the World Travel Awards.
Other Genting properties that are now using Site- Minder to distribute their rooms online are Awana Porto Malai in Langkawi and Awana Kijal Golf, Beach & Spa Resort in Terengganu.
SiteMinder's senior business development manager for Asia, Kevin Tatem, said: "SiteMinder is proud to partner with such a large and iconic brand as Resorts World Genting and we look forward to helping Genting reach more online markets worldwide faster and easier.
"Genting properties in Malaysia will benefit enormously by automating their distribution process with two-way integration to the world's top booking websites via The SiteMinder Channel Manager.
"This connection will dramatically reduce the time it takes to update live rates and availability and reduce the risk of over bookings via our unique pooled inventory model, which automatically adjusts Genting's hotel inventory each time a booking is taken on any online channel." Genting Malaysia vice president cum head of sales and marketing, Rocky Too, said: "We have so much to offer at our resorts. Site- Minder is a trusted site and with this agreement, we hope our customers will be able to make bookings efficiently and speedily.
"We believe in technology and with SiteMinder having what it takes in online worldwide reservation, we also hope to expand our business on a wider global market."
