SIMtone Corporation Unveils Virtual Service Platform Software to "Cloud Computing-Enable" Any Data Center

DURHAM, N.C. --(Business Wire)-- SIMtone Corporation, a privately held company delivering the next cloud computing paradigm, today announced the immediate availability of the new SIMtone Virtual Service Platform (VSP) software. The new SIMtone VSP allows service providers, enterprise organizations and small- and medium-sized businesses to easily transform existing application and desktop infrastructures into "cloud computing-enabled" infrastructures, highly manageable and securely accessible on-demand and on-the-fly from any LAN, WAN or Internet access point. The SIMtone VSP enables multiple and diverse desktop operating systems and applications hosted in virtual environments, terminal servers, blade PCs as well on existing distributed desktop PCs, to be aggregated, managed, migrated and provisioned as end-users cloud services very simply. SIMtone VSP supports any combination of VMware Server and ESX, Windows XP, Vista and Terminal Server hosts, multi-zone network security, and offers automated, user-activity driven, peak capacity-based guest machine management, load balancing, and failure recovery, radically reducing virtual datacenters real-estate and power requirements.

Designed to make the transition to cloud computing simple and inexpensive, the SIMtone VSP provides a simple, inexpensive and flexible path towards virtualization, offering enterprises and small/medium businesses a smooth, continuous and failback-safe migration from distributed to virtual desktop environments, flexibly and securely manageable in-house or in external hosting facilities. SIMtone VSP includes a GUI-based administration console to easily provision, activate and manage virtual guest machines, terminal servers, blade- and PC-based desktops on-the-fly. This provides an extremely simple transition to virtual desktops environments, while leveraging existing investments in IT infrastructure. SIMtone VSP-based desktop and application services provide a powerful, cost-effective and secure alternative to solutions such as Citrix, enabling businesses to consolidate, virtualize and cloud-enable their desktop and application infrastructures inexpensively, delivering users with full and secure access to their computing environment on-demand from any LAN or Internet access point, without requiring a computer.

"Organizations of all sizes can take advantage of the benefits virtualization has to offer, yet they are typically challenged by the cost and complexity to do so," explained Kurt Ziegler, SIMtone's Executive Vice President, High Performance Computing (HPC). "SIMtone VSP provides the capability to quickly transform existing IT infrastructures into cloud computing environments instantly and securely accessible from everywhere, and offers the easiest migration path to realize the full value of virtual desktops."

SIMtone VSP is available in three versions, Business, Enterprise and Stratus editions, downloadable, self-installable and self-configurable on commodity hardware, each providing the capability to deliver unparalleled performance and scalability while reducing data center resources, such as servers, rack space, and power requirements.

The Business version provides full service management capabilities for virtual guest machines, terminal servers, blade PCs and distributed PCs, and provides for low cost installation in private data centers as well as for multi-tenancy hosted ones. The Enterprise version additionally supports multi-zone network security deployments. The Stratus edition offers load-balancing, automated failure recovery, and automatic user-activity driven, peak capacity-based guest machine management, providing the capability to easily and inexpensively scale and manage virtual desktop and application environments, while drastically reducing real estate and power requirements.
