Sierra Wireless collaborates with industry leaders to feature innovative IoT solutions at Mobile World Congress 2015

Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ:SWIR) (TSX:SW) will be showcasing some of its customers' leading IoT solutions as part of GSMA Innovation City at Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) (MWC) in Barcelona this week.

Sierra Wireless - along with its customers OxBlue, Philips Lighting, and Schneider Electric - will be demonstrating innovative solutions for smart cities. Each of the IoT solutions being shown relies on leading technologies from Sierra Wireless (News - Alert).

Sierra Wireless booth demonstrations:

  • Monitoring the progress of construction projects - Sierra Wireless and OxBlue will demonstrate a solution that enables the monitoring of construction projects with high-resolution time-lapse cameras equipped with AirLink intelligent wireless gateways. The feed from the cameras can be accessed with any internet-connected device through OxBlue's secure data servers. As part of this demonstration, cameras were installed with a view of the Sierra Wireless booth in the GSMA Innovation City as it was being built. • Manage energy and maintenance costs with smart city lighting - See how to improve public safety, manage energy consumption and lower maintenance costs through a public connected lighting system that can be remotely managed and adjusted to a city's needs. Philips (News - Alert) CityTouch, created by Philips, the global leader in lighting, is a software-based management and control dashboard that can be accessed anywhere in the world through a secure login. An asset management app for street lights that offers map-based visualization and simple charts and diagrams, Philips CityTouch creates a clear picture of a city's lighting infrastructure. Philips CityTouch-ready-fixtures are the next generation of Philips street lighting fixtures that contain mobile phone technology. The plug and play connected lighting solution removes the need for a proprietary local control system based on radio frequency or power line communication. LEDs combined with Philips CityTouch deliver up to 70% savings in energy and maintnance costs by enabling city councils to remotely manage street lights, gain exact data on energy usage, automatic failure notifications and eliminate the need for expensive scouting rounds, while ensuring citizens feel safe in well-lit streets at all times.
  • EV charging stations to manage maintenance and optimize services - Schneider Electric's electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is a comprehensive hardware and software solution connected by AirVantage® Cloud and an AirLink® programmable gateway, which offers secure and reliable cellular connectivity. Using the remote monitoring and control capabilities enabled by AirVantage, Schneider Electric (News - Alert) and its customers can manage the dispersed charging stations from a central location - remote diagnosis without having to send personnel on-site and enhanced uptime at optimized maintenance costs.
