Shaw Industries Leverages Ariba Supplier Network for Direct Materials Purchasing; Leading Carpet Manufacturer Expands Relationship with Ariba for Wall-to-Wall Spend Management
SUNNYVALE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Nov. 7, 2005 -- Ariba(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:ARBA), the leading spend management solutions provider, today announced that Shaw Industries, the world's largest carpet manufacturer, is expanding its use of spend management solutions from Ariba. Shaw, a user of Ariba Buyer(TM), Ariba Analysis(TM), and Ariba Category Management(TM), is adding Ariba Supplier Connectivity(TM) to drive additional efficiencies and cost savings. The move enables Shaw to consolidate its purchasing transactions on a single network.
"Ariba Buyer provides a very efficient way to connect with suppliers, and it has helped us generate substantial results to manage a significant portion of our spend," said Lance Starks, director of Corporate Sourcing, Shaw. "Adding Ariba Supplier Connectivity will allow us to connect a large portion of our direct material suppliers by bringing transactions that are currently run through our ERP system onto the Ariba Supplier Network. Consolidating our transactions and managing our suppliers through a single system will enhance our efficiencies."
Ariba Supplier Connectivity is a subscription-based solution helping enterprises extract more value from non-Ariba procurement systems by seamlessly connecting them to the Ariba Supplier Network. The Ariba Supplier Network is an on demand, open business network that includes more than 120,000 suppliers. Each month, these suppliers conduct online transactions exceeding $5 billion with some of the world's largest buying organizations. Participating buyers and suppliers can conduct business with each other electronically, managing complete transactions -- from sourcing, to orders, to payment. They can also access multiple network-delivered services to enhance interaction and collaboration among companies.
"Creating a connection to Ariba's network was easy to do," said Starks. "And it has allowed us to derive more value from our ERP system by streamlining the way in which we connect to and collaborate with our suppliers."
"Supplier enablement is critical to the success of any business, yet many companies struggle to effectively connect and collaborate with their trading partners," said Chris Eyerman, director of Connectivity Solutions, Ariba. "Shaw has successfully automated and streamlined the process of doing business with its key vendors through Ariba Buyer. Linking their ERP system to our network through Ariba Supplier Connectivity will only enhance this process and the results that they achieve."
