Serial bank robber may have struck banks in Bethlehem, Bucks County and New Jersey
Apr 12, 2012 (The Morning Call - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
The FBI has potentially linked a robbery of a PNC Bank branch in lower Bucks County yesterday afternoon to two other bank robberies earlier this month in Bethlehem and Burlington County, N.J.
All three robberies occurred at bank branches inside grocery stories.
The robber entered the PNC bank at 942 State St. in Warminster around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. He threatened a teller with a weapon and presented a note demanding money before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the FBI. He may have been driving a light silver or gold sedan.
An FBI news release said he also may have robbed banks on April 4 in Bethlehem, Pa., and April 3 in the Marlton section of Evesham Township in New Jersey.
The Bethlehem robbery occurred inside the Giant Food Store at 2170 W. Union Blvd., and the New Jersey robbery occurred inside the ShopRite at 307 W. Route 70.
All three robberies occurred around lunch time between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Descriptions in each of the robberies have varied but are similar as are the surveillance photos.
The Warminster robber was described as a white male about 5 feet 6 inches tall in his late 40s or early 50s with dark hair and a mustache. He was wearing a tan baseball cap and a dark jacket.
The Bethlehem robber was described as having a thick mustache and facial hair. He wore a beige or khaki-colored pants, a dark-colored military-style baseball cap and a green Army jacket.
The description of the New Jersey robber was of a 35- to 45-year-old man with a dark complexion, medium build and about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall.
The FBI is seeking the public's assistance to identify him. Call the 215-418-4000 with information. A cash reward may be issued for information leading to his arrest and capture, and information may be submitted anonymously
If seen, call 911 immediately and do not approach him because he is considered armed and dangerous.
