Securian's Geurkink Gets Retirement Industry Leadership Award [Professional Services Close - Up](Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Kerry L. Geurkink, manager, Securian Retirement Annuity Marketing, was honored with the Leadership Award from the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI). According to a release from the company, the IRI is the nonprofit trade association for the retirement income industry. "The IRI Leadership Award was established to recognize extraordinary and innovative contributions to the association, and by extension, the retirement income industry," said Cathy Weatherford, IRI President and CEO. "Kerry was nominated and selected by her industry peers in appreciation for her energy, dedication and commitment to IRI and the advancement of the industry. It is through these efforts that IRI has grown into the industry-leading organization it is today." Geurkink was recognized for her work with the IRI during a ceremony at its annual meeting September 29 at Colonial Williamsburg, VA. Kerry Geurkink has been active in the financial services industry for more than 30 years, with the majority of that time in the annuity and retirement income marketplace. She joined Securian in 1984 as a pension training representative and now leads the company's individual annuity marketing unit. At the IRI, she has led and participated in many committees that play roles in guiding the development of the variable annuity industry, including: -Retirement Income Committee (1998 - present) -Board of Directors (2003-2005) -Securities Regulatory and Advocacy Committee/Federal Affairs Committee (2001 - present) -Education Committee (1996 - 2009) Geurkink holds several securities registrations and the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) and Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL) designations. She earned bachelors and MBA degrees from Cardinal Stritch University, Minneapolis, MN.
