SCRA Technology Ventures Announces New SC Launch Companies

SCRA Technology Ventures today announced the acceptance of five new companies into its SC Launch Program. Charleston-area companies GreenTex Solutions and Job Market Maker, and Greenville-area companies Accessible Diagnostics, Aptus and Constructis became client companies this month.

GreenTex Solutions is an advanced materials composite manufacturing company that utilizes recycled carbon fibers to make composite parts. Based in Charleston, the company is focused on marine industry applications, but their technology has multiple uses as a cost effective, "green" alternative to other traditional fabrication methods.

Job Market Maker is a Charleston-based information technology company that offers innovative software solutions for recruiting, closing the skills gap, and career development. The company's cloud-based platform mediates all parts of the job market using talent science and big data predictive analytics.

Accessible Diagnostics/a> is a medical diagnostic company based in Greenville. Their first product, based on a technology from Clemson University, is Glucosense. Glucosense is an ultra-low cost glucose monitoring system for use in poor, low-resource communities. Where U.S. market leading glucose test strips cost a dollar, a Glucosense strip can be ink-jet printed in a remote clinic in a developing country for a nickel.

Aptus, LLC is based in Central, S.C. The life science company is based on a Clemson University technology and facilitates tissue-engineering and regenerative-medicine efforts. Through bioreactors and custom-designed solutions, Aptus provides mechanical conditioning of printed organs, development of recellularized scaffolds, physiological testing of devices and more.

Constructis, LLC is a Greenville-based energy company that manufactures, installs and maintains patented kinetic energy devices for U.S. military deployment, commercial use and full scale utility applications nationwide.

"We welcome these new companies to the SC Launch program," said SCRA CEO Bill Mahoney. "These promising companies will help to grow technology-based jobs in South Carolina in diverse industry sectors from life sciences to energy."

SC Launch client companies are accepted into the economic development program and will receive mentoring and support services. Companies may be eligible to receive matching funding or larger investment funds.
