SCAN Introduces Initial Board Members [Travel & Leisure Close - Up](Travel & Leisure Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Supplier Compliance Audit Network (SCAN) convened its fall conference in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 9 and 10. According to a release, the company also announced the incorporation of a non-profit trade association and the following initial officers and board and committee members: -Chairman: David Blackorby, VP Global Security - Walmart -Vice Chair: Kendra Riley, Senior Manager, Global Trade Services - The Home Depot -Secretary: Jennifer Kissner, Director of Global Trade Compliance - The Coleman Company Inc. -Treasurer: Patricia Cerisano, Global Customs Trade Compliance Manager - Husky Injection Molding Systems -3rd Party Audit Firm Selection & Audit Checklist Committee: Ken McElroy, Manager, Global Trade Risk - The Home Depot -Member Criteria Committee: Debra Martin, Sr. Director, Global Security Operations - Walmart -Audit Repository Management Committee: Gina Fischer, Manager, Customs Trade & Compliance - Celgene Corp. -Public Relations Committee: Anna Phillips, Security Specialist - The Boeing Company The group said the leaders will further develop SCAN and its mission of creating a globally shared audit platform and process for supplier and factory Supply Chain Security audits. Collectively, SCAN members conduct more than 25,000 United States Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (US C-TPAT) and European Union Authorized Economic Operator (EU AEO) audits per year and many suppliers face multiple duplicative assessments per year. SCAN members would share audits based on mutually agreed upon supply chain security criteria and this one-to-many audit concept ensures audit consistency, increases efficiencies, and reduces audit fatigue. "The formation of SCAN represents several years of planning and has tremendous appeal to importers and exporters that participate in programs such as C-TPAT. The shared assessment program that we are developing will save suppliers' costs and those savings we can pass onto our customers. Securing global trade is a task we take seriously and we believe it is important to share best practices among the importer base," said David Blackorby, SCAN Chairman. Kendra Riley, Vice Chair of SCAN, said, "While many SCAN members are direct competitors, we have a shared commitment to secure international trade and demonstrate leadership to programs such as the US C-TPAT and the EU AEP. We compete on the shelves in our stores, but share a commitment to National Security." SCAN was formed by multinational importers and is designed to help reduce the frequency and cost of supply chain security audits conducted on global suppliers and factories.
