Scality Relocates Research and Development Center to Accommodate Significant Growth

Scality, the leader in software-based storage for the information age, today announced that it has relocated its research and development center to a new site in the 8th arrondissement in Paris, France. As part of the company's rapid expansion and continued hiring efforts, Scality (News - Alert) has moved to the 4,363 square foot modern space to accommodate its growing number of Paris-based employees.

Since January 2015 the number of Scality's Paris-based employees has doubled, creating the need for a larger space. The cutting-edge design of the research and development center at 11 Rue Tronchet will help Scality better foster innovation, boost employee engagement, and continue to meet the ever-growing demand for the Scality RING. In addition to greater space, Scality's new Paris campus features a fitness room, state-of-the-art kitchen with a dedicated cook, better access to public transportation, as well as restaurants and shops nearby. At this new location, Scality will continue to conduct research projects to improve scalability and provisioning offerings, increase data privacy features, and enhance geographically distributed data storage solutions.

"The opening of our new Paris research and development center marks an important day for Scality. Over the past year we've seen immense growth and have opened new offices globally, but Paris continues to be a special place for the company as both our main engineering center and our European headquarters for sales and marketing," said Jerome Lecat, CEO at Scality. "We believe in creating an environment that inspires employees and fosters internal communication. Each of our offices around the globe have been designed with this goal in mind."

As a part of its initiative to recognize and promote local talent in France, Scality has furthered its relationship and research efforts with computer programming school, Ecole 42. Founded by Xavier Niel and Nicolas Sadirac, Ecole 42 is a free computer engineering school with no prerequisites where students work together, without teachers, books, or curriculums, to learn by solving complex programming challenges.

This past July, Scality organized a month-long hackathon at Ecole 42 where studens' performance and results were credited in their curriculum. 35 students participated and eight were selected based on their superior skills to be a part of a new research program at Scality. Since the establishment of the partnership, six Ecole 42 alumni have been added to Scality's prestigious engineering roster. In addition to supporting the mission of Ecole 42, Scality's Paris campus will continue to collaborate with INRIA, the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation, and contribute to grants and research projects.

To support the strong demand for Scality software worldwide, Scality recently announced a $45 million round of funding, global resale agreements with Dell and HP, and new office expansions in Japan and the Eastern U.S. In September, Scality also announced the addition of Josh Berezin to the executive management team. As the new Vice President of Sales for the Americas, Berezin looks to focus on hiring talent to support large enterprises and service providers. Altogether, Scality's employee base has risen from 78 to 165 in the past year, more than doubling its global workforce.
