SATO Global Solutions Taps British Telecom Veteran Keith Sherry to Lead Focused Efforts around Global Retail IoT Expansion

In a recent Retail Systems Research study1, 70 percent of retailers surveyed felt that the Internet of Things (IoT) would drastically change the way they do business in the next three years. This upward adoption trend is clear to SATO Global Solutions (SGS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SATO Holdings, who today announced the appointment of Keith Sherry to chief operating officer (COO), responsible for leading the strategic development of the SGS suite of IoT products and services for the retail and supply chain sectors. He will apply his 20-plus years of technology expertise to support operations, revenue and market extension for the SGS suite of solutions, focused primarily on development of new IoT strategies designed to address specific customer business challenges.

Over more than two decades at British Telecom (BT (News - Alert)) in high level business development roles, Sherry successfully nurtured the global market for BT's retail IoT, supply chain and information and communication technology solutions, among others. He led BT teams responsible for designing, developing and delivering customer-focused retail and supply chain solutions and managed the development of start-ups within the BT organization.

"I'm excited to join the SGS team during this time of great momentum and innovation. The opportunities for retailers to benefit from IoT are becoming more apparent every day and SGS is in a unique position to empower them to leverage the power of data and transform their businesses," Sherry said.

Sherry was also the driving force behind the Acuitas Digital Alliance, developing the organization from the ground up, and serving as vice president of business and market development. Launched in 2016 by SGS and others, the Alliance brings together like-minded technology innovators to help companies through end-to-end digital transformation efforts from the supply chain all the way to brick-and-mortar. The Alliance creates cloud-based, future-proof solutions leveraging transformational technologies such as big data and IoT to help retailers engage with customers and optimize operations from production to purchase.

"We are extremely fortunate to be joined by Keith at this critical moment when our company is perfectly poised to accelerate delivery of our IoT solutions," said Goro Yumiba, chairman and CEO of SATO Global Solutions. "His leadership, vision and talent, which enabled the formation of the Acuitas Digital Alliance, will help us gain greater visibility in the market in order to build our IoT business."

SGS recently unveiled the first cloud-based IoT platform that leverages shared data to improve inventory accuracy and visibility, product on-shelf availability, sales associate efficiency and the retail customer experience. The VISION Retail Platform seamlessly connects RFID tags, sensors, gateways and the cloud to deliver actionable insights across retail applications when and where data is needed within the retail environment.
