SaskTel's infiNET blazing through Moose Jaw in 2013

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 11 December 2012 Release date- 06122012 - SaskTel is pleased to announce that infiNET, SaskTel's new Fibre Optic Network, is coming next to the residential community of Moose Jaw.

infiNET is being deployed through SaskTel's Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) Program, a seven-year $670 million dollar investment to deploy fibre directly to homes and upgrade the broadband network in the nine largest urban centers in the province, Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw, Weyburn, Estevan, Swift Current, Yorkton, North Battleford and Prince Albert.

'It has always been our vision for the people of this great province to have access to the best technology available,' said Minister Responsible for SaskTel, Don McMorris, 'and SaskTel continues to show commitment and leadership by building world classnetworks that enhance the quality of life for all Saskatchewan people.' 'We are excited to invest in emerging technology that will enhance our customers' communication experiences today, while also setting the groundwork for technology enhancements in the future,' said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO. 'infiNET will future proof SaskTel's network by allowing upgrades for future speed increases without the need to replace the fibre.' SaskTel has already installed and deployed infiNET in neighborhoods throughout both Regina and Saskatoon, and is the only provider in Saskatchewan to deliver fibre directly to the customer's door. Preliminary construction work has begun in Moose Jaw, and customers can expect to have infiNET available to their homes starting in spring 2013, with fibre projected to be deployed to all residential areas of the city within a year. SaskTel will announce full details in early 2013.

Once connected, infiNET will provide customers access to Saskatchewan's fastest network, allowing for download speeds of up to 260 Mbps and 60 Mbps for uploading, significantly enhancing the customer experience when downloading or streaming video, uploading photos and videos, or participating in real-time gaming. Max customers can have up to seven High Definition set-top boxes in one residence, providing new and enhanced possibilities for home entertainment.
