SAPO Codebits: Coders showcase their innovative talent at international technology event


(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The biggest technological event in Portugal merges the latest trends with new and exiting projects in areas such as the internet, design, hardware and software 900 participants of more than 10 nationalities, 25 workshops, more than 100 talks and 64 speakers.



Opening up to the academic world with the implementation of UCodebits at the PT Data Center in Covilh Lisbon: SAPO Codebits is set to welcome technology masterminds to open its 7th programming event this week, merging the latest trends with new and exiting projects in areas such as the internet, design, hardware and software.

The three-day event at the MEO Arena that starts on Thursday, April 10th will see programmers, enthusiasts and internet entrepreneurs take part in a number of demos, workshops and a 24-hour programming competition to showcase the emerging talent in Portugal and across the world.


Over the years the event has contributed in defining trends and creating advances in the area of new technologies in Portugal. This year's edition will reinforce computing and hardware with 3D printing, digital manufacturing, augmented hardware and simulations, robotics, drones and virtual reality retro computing.

The SAPO event presents UCodebits at the PT Data Centre in Covilha, to reinforce and cultivate its close working relationship between universities and the industry via SAPO labs.

This event showcases young talent, providing students from local universities with a wide range of activities and initiatives including: Live transmission of all talks and workshops from SAPO Codebits in Lisbon; Workshops coordinated by representatives of the Beira Interior University, Guarda and Castelo Branco Polytechnic and national technology start-ups; Programming competition for the duration of the event with the winners participating in the next edition of Codebits.

Sixty students and teachers with specific skills such as electronics, robotics and specialised programming will take part in the event to share knowledge and experiences.

Celso Martinho, SAPO general manager, said: "This event will once again reinforce the pioneering and innovative capacity of SAPO Labs as a design factory for new ideas and establish an indispensable connection with the academic world through the development of a wide range of technological solutions." Alongside this, SAPO Labs will be presenting its new solutions and projects developed with universities of Aveiro, Beira Interior, Lisbon, Minho, Nova-Lisbon and Porto.

More than 100 talks and 25 workshops will be transmitted live throughout the event including talks from John Graham-Cumming and Christian Heilmann.
