Aesthetically, the S5 Plus looks no more or less pleasing than its parent flagship. And apart from the core Qualcomm chipset, the two devices are identical in spec. They have the same dimensions (142mm x 72.5mm x 8.1mm); same weight (145g); same display (5.1-inch Super AMOLED multi-touch capacitive touchscreen, with 16M colours, 1080 x 1920 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3); same cameras (16 MP main and 2MP secondary); same memory (2GB RAM with 16/32GB storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD); and same battery (Li-Ion 2800 mAh). So the South Korean vendor is concentrating on the benefits of the improved chipset, and replacing the Snapdragon 801 with the 805 gives, according to Samsung, a memory bandwidth increase of around 70%, leading to less resource congestion during multitasking operations. Included in the SoC are an upgraded GPU (the Adreno 420 replaces the Adreno 330), for the purposes of increased speed and power efficiency on the display side; and a refreshed processor (Krait 450 replaces Krait 400).
