Rural North Dakota receiving $4.5M for broadband(Associated Press Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Two communications providers in rural North Dakota are receiving more than $4.5 million in federal funding to help expand high-speed Internet access. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced this week that providers in three rural North Dakota counties will receive funding through federal telecommunications grants. Daktel Communications will receive a grant of about $2.4 million to establish a fiber-to-the-home network. The network will provide broadband service to rural Stutsman County. BEK Communications Cooperative will receive about $2.1 million to create a fiber-to-the-home network that will aid parts of Morton County and Oliver County. Copyright 2014 The Associated Press.
