RP entrepreneurs are patriots GMA

(Philippine Daily Inquirer Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)PRESIDENT MACAPAGAL-ARroyo yesterday asked the countrys entrepreneurs, whom she called patriots, to reject politicking and the destabilization moves against her administration by growing the economy through entrepreneurship and steadily denting poverty.



Speaking at the Go Negosyo Summit at Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City, the President said: Let us resolve to not let politicking or destabilization put down or destroy what we have here before us the Filipino spirit of enterprise.

Speaking at the summit called by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE), the President said company executives were more bullish about the economy today than at any period based on a Central Bank poll last week.



That is optimistic; that is not being afraid, she said.

The President said she herself had opted to be optimistic about the many trying times she had faced as a public servant.

She said she never forgot what her then boss at the Department of Trade and Industry, businessman Jose Concepcion, had told her: Believing you can do it is half being able to do it.

(T)hat is optimism. And Ive never forgotten that exhortation through the many trying times Ive had as a public servant, she said.

The President also lauded the PCE for holding the summit yesterday, as it becomes a part of our celebration of Edsa, referring to the 20th anniversary of the first People Power revolution this week.

She also announced that she had instructed Presidential Adviser on Jobs Creation Arthur Yap to talk to the Land Bank and the Development Bank of the Philippines to set aside P50 million as an incubation fund to help finance new entrepreneurs to be chosen by the PCE.
