Rook Security To Kick Off National Cyber Security Awareness Month By Discussing Emerging Threats At Indianapolis SecureWorld 2014

INDIANAPOLIS --(Business Wire)--

Rook Security, a provider of global IT security solutions offering protection of sensitive data and brand reputation against dynamic emerging threats, today announced that Mat Gangwer, lead security consultant, will be a featured speaker at Indianapolis SecureWorld 2014. The conference will take place on October 1 in the Sheraton Indianapolis at Keystone Crossing.

SecureWorld has emerged as one of North America's most vital cyber-security conferences, providing globally relevant education, training and networking for cyber-security professionals on a regional level. SecureWorld provides more content and facilitates more professional connections than any other event in the cyber-security industry. Established in 2002, SecureWorld offers many different continuing professional education sessions in 14 cities throughout the United States.

Gangwer will be a contributing panelist to "The Emerging Threat Landscape", an industry expert panel discussion on Wednesday, October 1 at 1:15-2:15 pm ET. The panel will discuss new security threats facing organizations and how IT professionals can mitigate risk. Gangwer will be co-presenting with experts from Symantec and Radware (News - Alert).

"It's no secret that cybercrime has not only become mainstream, but organized and methodical as well," said Mat Gangwer, lead security consultant, Rook Security. "We're still not seeing the level of basic, proven security philosophies as commonly as we should be in organizations at home and abroad. These security philosophies must be understood and acted upon from the boardroom to the datacenter if businesses want to have a fighting chance to protect their information."

Roo Security's presence at Indianapolis SecureWorld will kick off National Cyber Security Awareness Month across the United States. Sponsored by the National Cyber Security Division (NCSD) within the Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA, a non-profit organization), National Cyber Security Awareness Month encourages vigilance and protection for all computer users.

Also this week, Rook Security's J.J. Thompson, CEO and Managing Director, and Tom Gorup, Security Operations Center Manager will also be featured speakers at the 2014 (ISC)2 Security Congress in Atlanta.

Thompson, who is also the President of the (ISC)² Indianapolis chapter, will present "Challenges for Next-Generation Security Operations Metrics and Management" and Gorup will present on how to "Leverage your SOC to Detect Use of IaaS/PaaS/SaaS".
