Richmond-Based Communications Company Expands into Williamsburg with Its Digital TV Service

RICHMOND, Va. --(Business Wire)-- Cavalier Telephone & TV, a leading provider of voice, internet and TV services for business and residential customers, today announced that the Williamsburg, VA City Council unanimously approved a Cavalier proposal to provide Digital TV service within the city.

With this approval, Cavalier will begin selling its TV service immediately in Williamsburg. The Richmond, VA-based company has been selling Digital TV service in metro Richmond since May of this year. The company has been providing voice and high speed DSL service in Williamsburg since 2000.

"We're excited that the citizens of Williamsburg will have a compelling choice versus the traditional monopoly cable company. We also applaud the City Council in Williamsburg for its responsiveness and willingness to work quickly in support of the community, "commented Cavalier CEO Brad Evans.

Williamsburg is the first locality in the Hampton Roads market to approve Cavalier's proposal for TV service. The company is continuing to work with other Hampton Roads localities for similar approval.

Cavalier's Digital TV is bundled with Cavalier Telephone voice and broadband internet service, creating a "Triple Play" offering. Cavalier's "Triple Play" will offer local and long distance telephone service, high speed DSL Internet service and over 150 digital channels for only $95 per month. "Our customers are looking for value and a $50 per month savings is substantial," concluded Cavalier CEO Brad Evans.

Cavalier plans to roll out video services in its other markets including: the balance of Hampton Roads, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Metro Washington, DC in the coming months. Cavalier's Digital TV will be in front of two million homes passed with its Triple Play service when this rollout is complete.

"As we continue to expand our TV footprint throughout Hampton Roads and the state of Virginia, the real winner will be consumers who will have price and product choices not previously available," said Vice President of Product Management and Marketing, Andy Lobred.

Cavalier Telephone & TV will continue to enhance its Digital TV offerings with additional applications such as TV mail, interactive programming and gaming, to provide customers with even more entertainment and convenience.

Cavalier Telephone is a facilities-based, full-service local telephone company (CLEC) offering the latest in advanced telecommunications products, including advanced telephone features and high-speed Internet access for business and residential customers. Cavalier Telephone now services approximately 35,000 businesses and 200,000 residential customers in Richmond, Norfolk, Northern Virginia, Maryland, Philadelphia, Delaware, Southern New Jersey, and Metro Washington, DC.
