Research and Markets: UK Enterprise Segment Communication Service Providers Report 2014

DUBLIN --(Business Wire)--

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/gsgchh/uk_enterprise) has announced the addition of the "UK Enterprise Segment Communication Service Providers" report to their offering.

With the 'Great Recession' finally looking like it is over and the country returning to growth, service providers face an enterprise market with a record 4.9 million entities employing over 31 million people.

The report includes the following:

  • Expert market analysis (sizing, segmentation, positioning)
  • Profiles of the leading 60 service providers including:
  • Verdict
  • Summary (strategy and recent activities)
  • Network & Portfolio
  • Management (revenues, reputation and promotion)
  • Compares them in terms of:
  • Target (News - Alert) customers
  • Revenues

The 'low' end of the market, comprising the self-employed and owner-mangers, continues to drive business creation, as it has done for many years now, and today accounts for 75% of the UK's business population. Given that fact, it remains surprising that there are so few propositions designed explicitly for this market opportunity - it would not take a great deal of effort or sophistication to put together a bundle for plumbers, say, give it a relevant name, and market it through the appropriate media/channels.

By way of excuse for service providers, they are having to cope with an unprecedented maelstrom of challenges, including the move to the cloud, smartphones/BYOD, over-the-top apps, the Internet of Things/M2M, Unified Communications & Collaboration, evolving broadband (both fixed and mobile), fixed-mobile convergence and so forth. This is resulting in a potentially confusing set of options both for service providers and their customers - which is where the winners will create packages suited to their target customer segments that balance the complexity of technology with the simplicity of function, usage and customer service.

These market evolutions are also tending to create a series of spectrums - ranging between managed in-house to outsourced services; off-the-shelf to bespoke; hosted in the cloud to hosted on site; and so forth. This is giving rise to the growth in professional services from sales to on-going management. Such services range from access to expertise over the phone/e-mail/chat to experts helping with designing and integrating customer systems and applications.

Fortunately for enterprise customers, there is no shortage of potential service providers to meet their needs. BT (News - Alert) continues to dominate the market, with an estimated market share of 45% driven by its continued strength both amongst SMEs (BT Business) and the very largest corporations that are served by the BT Global Services (News - Alert) division - as well as many small businesses served by the BT Consumer division.

Key Topics Covered:

I. Executive Summary
