Removing of iPad Not Concerned with Trademark Infringement
Feb 16, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --
Two e-commerce companies Amazon.cn and Suning.com, which has removed iPad, on February 15 stated that the removing of the product was not concerned with iPad-related trademark infringement case in China.
The main reason of removing iPad was that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) was adjusting the sales strategy, says an insider of Amazon.cn. Apple wants to narrow the online sales of the product and enlarge the below-the-line sales, he adds.
Meanwhile, an insider of Suning.com points out that the removing was because of a shortage of the product, and that the procurement department of Suning.com does not know the specific time for the arrival of iPad. He says that Suning.com did not receive a requirement from Apple to remove the product.
Except those two websites, 360buy.com, tmall.com, the online store of GOME Electrical Appliances Holding Ltd. (SEHK: 0493) and some other online dealers are still selling iPad normally. Meanwhile, the products are also being sold on Apple's online stores and Beijing-based retail stores.
However, because a dispute of iPad-related trademark infringement happened between Apple and Proview Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., some cities' administrations for industry and commerce have asked dealers to stop selling iPad.
