WOOSTER -- The Wayne County Park District is developing a plan to install an asphalt trail at the Barnes Preserve. The construction of the trail can potentially change the structure of the southernmost edge of the vernal pool located on the property. The only changes to the pool would be to the width and the length of time it takes for the water to seep through the ground.

Tax prep offered by Community Action
WOOSTER -- Free income tax preparation is being offered at Community Action Wayne/Medina through the Benefit Bank Software. It is for people who can file simple tax returns with no self- employment and income must be under $60,000.
Tax preparation is available by appointment only. Contact Tanya Banfield at 330-264-8677 to schedule an appointment.

National Barn Alliance meets Feb. 17-19
UPPER ARLINGTON -- National Barn Alliance Winter Meeting will be held Feb. 17-19, in Upper Arlington. The meeting is for barn preservation organizations and owners to connect and share information. Law firm offering scholarships
WOOSTER -- The law firm of Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston, Ltd., located in Wooster, Millersburg, Mount Vernon and Medina, is sponsoring two law scholarships for the 2012-13 school year.
The Critchfield Law Resident Scholarship is offered for current or former residents of Ashland, Holmes, Knox, Medina or Wayne counties who have completed at least one semester of law school.
The Critchfield Law Diversity Scholarship is offered to a minority student who has completed at least one semester of law school.
At least one award in the amount of $1,000 will be provided for each scholarship. The deadline for applying for the 2012-13 scholarships is March 30.

FFA chapter selling strawberries
W. HOLMES DISTRICT -- The West Holmes FFA is holding its second annual strawberry sale through Feb. 28. Fresh Florida strawberries are being sold by the quart, half-flat and full flat.
