Red Hat Named 2014 Global Partner of the Year: Technology at TeamWork 2015, the Google for Work Annual Partner Summit

Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that the company was honored by Google (News - Alert) for Work as the 2014 Global Partner of the Year: Technology. The award was presented at TeamWork 2015, Google for Work's annual global partner summit, which took place in San Diego. The Technology partner of the year award emphasizes Red Hat's (News - Alert) proven track record of enabling product adoption for customers on Google Cloud Platform.

The award follows strong global collaboration by Red Hat and Google for Work in many areas. In March 2014, Red Hat announced that it was working with Google to enable Red Hat customers to move eligible Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions to Google Compute Engine using Red Hat Cloud Access, reinforcing the flexibility and choice afforded by the open hybrid cloud. Both Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host, a secure, lightweight and minimal footprint operating system optimized to run Linux Containers, are available on Google Compute Engine.

Additionally, Red Hat and Google actively collaborate on container technologies, approaches, and best practices. Red Hat embraced the Kubernetes project at launch, and announced collaboration with Google to tackle the challenge of how to manage Docker containers at scale, across hundreds or thousands of hosts. Today, several Red Hat developers are among the leading contributors to Kubernetes, and Kubernetes is a key component for managing and enabling the reliability of application deployments in OpenShift 3, the forthcoming version of Red Hat's award-winning Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering.
