Raytheon Wins $85.3 Million Projectile Contract

September 5, 2008 (FinancialWire) -- The U.S. Army has awarded Raytheon
Co. (NYSE: RTN) (Current Market Cap: US$24.99 Bil.) an $85.3 million
contract to produce tactical Excalibur projectiles for the U.S. Army,
U.S. Marine Corps and the Australian Defence Forces.
Excalibur, a cooperative effort between Raytheon Missile Systems and
BAE Systems Bofors of Sweden, is an artillery projectile designed for
current and future 155 millimeter howitzers.
The Excalibur is designed to have a 24.8 mile range that offers better
than 32.8 foot accuracy, according to Raytheon.
Waltham, Massachusetts-based Raytheon posted 2007 sales of $21.3
billion. The company specializes in defense, homeland security and
other government markets throughout the world. Raytheon employs 72,000
people worldwide.
