Proton Edar offers free vehicle safety inspections [Business Times (Malaysia)]

(Business Times (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PETALING JAYA: Proton Edar Sdn Bhd is partnering with Petronas Dagangan Bhd to offer a free 20-point safety-inspection at selected Petronas stations that run alongside the Petronas Coffee Break campaign during the Hari Raya festivities season as part of their corporate social responsibility programme.

Proton Edar chief executive officer Azmi Idris said the safety check only takes 10 minutes and is often overlooked by customers, especially during their busy schedule.

The company expects about 40 to 50 customers per station.

"The reason why we scheduled it early is to prevent last-minute surprises. By then, it would be pointless as it'd be too late to rectify any serious problems," he said .

Azmi said most overlooked problems include cracked engine belts and tyres.

The safety inspection is conducted at four Petronas stations located in Seberang Jaya (Penang), Damansara-bound NKVE km 15.3, Gambang (Pahang) and Air Keroh (Malacca) from July 22 to July 24 2014.

The programme also aims to educate customers the differences between genuine and imitation Proton parts.

Petronas Coffee Break campaign runs from today to tomorrow and August 1 and 2. It has been during the last 15 years and had been popular with customers.

For this year, Petronas Dagangan Bhd will be partnering with Wonda Premium Coffee.

Petronas is the fluid technology solutions provider for Proton and supplies Proton with its Syntium line of lubricants and fluids as well as its liquefied petroleum gas.
