Prognosis to Provide Inflight Voice Quality and Network Path Information Using the Latest Microsoft Lync SDN API

SYDNEY --(Business Wire)--

Integrated Research (News - Alert) (ASX:IRI) today announced support for the latest Lync SDN API, providing complete end-to-end communications path visibility across the application and network layer during a live Microsoft Lync call.

Through integration with the recently released version 2.1 of the Lync SDN API, support teams using Prognosis (News - Alert) from Integrated Research will have the ability to proactively troubleshoot voice quality issues while a call is still active and take remedial action immediately.

Prognosis provides visibility and proactive insights across Unified Communications (UC) ecosystems and the ability to maximize the availability and performance of Lync. It is responsible for managing the performance of some of the largest Lync installations in the world, including one global customer deployment with over 450,000 end points.

By using data from the Lync SDN API, Prognosis will correlate real-time call and related network infrastructure, applications and activities in the network that may have an impact on quality. Prognosis then provides a singl view across an entire communications ecosystem including Session Border Controllers (SBC). These are an extension of existing Prognosis capabilities to monitor and performance manage associated network and UC devices, including routers, SBC and other network devices in a multi-vendor environment.

With Prognosis Path Insight support teams will then be able to drill down further and display network layer call data while the call is still active. Prognosis is able to detect which routers are potentially contributing to the poor performance of voice quality so that issues can be addressed faster.

"Most voice quality issues attributed to Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync are in fact caused by the underlying network, infrastructure or applications not the Lync application itself" said Darc Rasmussen, Chief Executive Officer, Integrated Research. "Through this integration, a result of our Lync SDN API Alliance with Microsoft, Prognosis for UC will give Lync customers real-time insights that will help support teams get to the root cause of an issue faster, deliver a better customer experience and save precious time and money."
