Powered By Submittable, AT&T Film Awards' Call for SubmissionsMISSOULA, Mont., Sept. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Organizers of the AT&T Film Awards are seeking the next great short film—and hoping to find it in nontraditional formats or among underrepresented filmmakers. The 5th edition of the AT&T Film Awards, presented by AT&T Mobility & Entertainment in partnership with the submission management platform Submittable, is an open competition for imaginative, undiscovered short films from aspiring creators across the U.S. Cash and prizes totaling $60,000 will be awarded in categories dedicated to filmmakers from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds, youth creators ages 13-18, and innovative filmmaking tech, including films shot on mobile and VR/AR/MR projects. There is no fee to submit. Films will be accepted through Dec. 7, 2018, or until 1,000 submissions are received. "Submittable connects millions of storytellers with organizations looking for creative work," CEO Michael FitzGerald said. "The AT&T Film Awards is a great example of this. It offers filmmakers a unique way to gain exposure and financial support for their projects." This latest edition of the AT&T Film Awards includes a category specifically for Spanish language short films by college students. The grand prize winner will be invited to attend the 2019 filmmaking program at USC Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles, meet with a CAA agent, and have their film air on DIRECTV in Latin America. Following is a list of all categories and prizes for the 5th edition of the AT&T Film Awards: AT&T Film Awards Categories and Prizes Emerging Filmmaker Award for inspiring and creative short films from aspiring filmmakers, up to 10 minutes in length, all genres.
Youth Filmmaker Awards — Seeking short films from middle and high school students, ages 13-18, shot on mobile devices, between 2-5 minutes in length.
Best Spanish Language Short — Seeking Spanish language short films from current undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, or postdoctoral students enrolled in an accredited college or university, up to 10 minutes in length. A majority of the film must be in Spanish.
Best Short Film Shot on Mobile — Seeking short films shot on smartphone, tablet, or drone.
Best VR/AR/MR Project — Seeking projects that best demonstrate the convergence of entertainment and technology utilizing Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, or Mixed Reality, up to 15 minute in length.
