Popkomm-IMEA 2009 - Searching for the Innovators in the Entertainment Business

This is the sixth time that Popkomm is running the Popkomm-IMEA. The award recognises the most innovative ideas in the music and entertainment industries. This highly respected business award will take place at Popkomm 2009, providing an ideal platform for the latest business ideas, the most intelligent company concepts and the hottest startups in the music, media, technology and entertainment sectors. Innovative companies still have until 30 June to submit their ideas to www.popkommawards.com.
The Popkomm-IMEA not only recognises innovative business ideas in areas such as digital marketing, mobile music and new technologies. It has long since become a hub for networking and matchmaking at Popkomm. It offers young entrepreneurs an opportunity to present themselves and forward-looking digital concepts to an international industry audience of venture capitalists and members of the press. The Popkomm-IMEA is organised in collaboration with Music Ally, Britain's leading digital music strategy and research company. Among Music Ally's clients are international corporations such as AOL and Orange, the BBC, Live Nation and all the major recording companies.
2009 is the first time that the general public can also play their part in choosing the winner. The successful applicants will be chosen by an expert panel of three judges (who will also offer free coaching to their personal choices). The finalists will then present their ideas online for the public to vote on the winner. The ultimate winner will be chosen from a combination of the public vote and a vote on the day of the event itself on Thursday 17 September. The winner of the Popkomm-IMEA will receive prize money and a free stand at Popkomm 2010, but also the sheer kudos of winning such a prestigious event.
The leading magazines "Billboard" and "Musikmarkt & Musikmarkt LIVE" are the media partners of the Popkomm-IMEA.
Last year Kyte received the Popkomm-IMEA. This US company provides a mobile online platform which anybody, consumers, media or entertainment companies, can use to create and distribute digital content, either live or on-demand via the web, social networks or mobile phones. In earlier years the Popkomm-IMEA went to Trivid GmbH from Germany for its development of a clip generator (2007), the US company Royalty Share for its royalty management software (2006), the US company kSolo.com for the world's first internet-based karaoke program (2005), and to the UK online music distributor Playlouder MSP (2004).

As an international platform for the music and entertainment industry Popkomm attracts thousands of trade visitors from all over the world. Popkomm's unique feature is the integrated concept of the event. Popkomm is the only industry meeting place in the world that combines a trade show with a conference and a festival. Consequently Popkomm is a major attraction not only for its core business of music, but also brings the representatives of other sectors such as concerts, the movies, advertising, gaming and mobile entertainment to the exhibition halls in Berlin. This is the first time that Popkomm will be taking place in the heart of Berlin, on the premises of STATION-Berlin at Gleisdreieck.
