(Turkish Daily News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Renowned Turkish pianist and composer Tuluyhan Ugurlu will perform a gala concert for his album "Dunya Baskenti Istanbul World Capital" on April 8 at the Aya Irini Museum in Istanbul.
The event will also feature Christian, Jewish and Islamic musical pieces, with Yako Taragana-Natan Siliki from the city's Jewish community and Adrusan Kirkor Hallacyan and Hafiz Aziz Mahmut Hardal representing its Armenian community performing religious songs and hymns. The music will be accompanied by a narrated multimedia presentation featuring images of Istanbul to highlight freedom of faith in Istanbul.

The famous architect Mimar Sinan, sitting on top of skyscrapers, ponders the design of Istanbul, while the Lale Devri (Tulip Period), a tour among the cobblestone streets of the city and the arrival of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, in Istanbul will be portrayed.
The Istanbul event is part of a series of concerts aimed at promoting the album. The first will be held in Kahramanmaras today, then in Gaziantep on March 24, Izmir on March 31, Bursa on April 1 and Antalya on April 6.
The gala in Istanbul will be followed by a concert on April 29 in Ankara and one on May 20 in Adana.
In "World Capital Istanbul," Ugurlu incorporates eclectic and contemporary sounds to produce both classical and electronic tunes. The album is on sale both at home and abroad.
Ugurlu believes that Istanbul, one of the world's biggest metropolises, can best be depicted musically with an approach that includes a variety of contemporary styles.
Organizers said in a statement that Turkish coffee, fruit juice, yogurt with fruit and lokum will be offered to the audience before the concert at the museum, which has a capacity of 1,200.
