Photo Release -- Alpha and Omega Semiconductor's New 80V and 100V MOSFETs Offer Industry's Lowest On-Resistance in a DFN3.3x3.3 Package

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec 21, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited (AOS) (Nasdaq:AOSL), a designer, developer and global supplier of a broad range of power semiconductors, today announced the release of AON7280 and AON7290, the newest additions to its new 80V and 100V AlphaMOS(TM) medium voltage portfolio. These new products are well suited for a wide range of applications that include secondary side synchronous rectification in DC/DC and AC/DC converters, POL modules for telecom systems, and POE networking applications.

A photo accompanying this release is available at //www.globenewswire.com/newsroom/prs/ pkgid=16400 Built using AOS proprietary AlphaMOS technology, the 80V AON7280 and 100V AON7290 offer ultra-low RDS(ON) that are 27% and 10% better than the leading competitors, respectively. The low on-resistance minimizes conduction losses and allows the device to operate at lower temperatures. This was achieved without compromising switching performance as both devices offer the lowest RDS(ON) * COSS in the industry. These solutions are packaged in a green DFN3.3x3.3 package, giving circuit designers flexibility in board-space critical applications.

"When constructing efficient power solutions in tight spaces, designers turn to high performance MOSFETs in smaller packages," said Stephen Chang, Sr. Product Marketing Manager at AOS. "AON7280 and AON7290 combine high density AlphaMOS technology with a compact DFN3.3x3.3 package to meet the needs of those designers." AON7280 Technical Highlights -- 80V N-channel MOSFET -- RDS(ON) < 8.5 mOhms max at VGS = 10V (Lowest in industry) -- COSS = 265 pF typ -- Qg (10V) = 26 nC typ -- Lowest RDS(ON) * Qg figure-of-merit in the market -- Lowest RDS(ON) * COSS figure-of-merit in the market -- 100% Rg and UIS tested AON7290 Technical Highlights -- 100V N-channel MOSFET -- RDS(ON) < 12.6 mOhms max at VGS = 10V (Lowest in industry) -- COSS = 175 pF typ -- Qg (10V) = 26.5 nC typ -- Lowest RDS(ON) * COSS figure-of-merit in the market -- 100% Rg and UIS tested Pricing and Availability Both AON7280 and AON7290 are immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 12-14 weeks. The unit price for 10,000 pieces of each device is $0.61.
