Percipia and Asiana Hotel Group Announce India's First Hotel with Sophisticated IP Telephony (VoIP) for Guests

COLUMBUS, Ohio and CHENNAI, India, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Percipia and Asiana Group Hotels announced that the new Asiana Hotel in Chennai is the first in India to provide sophisticated IP (Internet protocol) telephony in the guest rooms. This technology allows guests to use color touch screen phones to access services that otherwise require a laptop or a call to the front desk. Services include airline flight status, weather (for local or worldwide destinations), dining options, group directories and much more.

At the Asiana, the new IP telephony system runs on a converged network infrastructure from Cisco Systems. Guest rooms feature the world's most advanced telephones, Cisco's color touch panel 7970 phones. These phones, equipped with the Percipia applications, feature vibrant displays and intuitive, easy-to-use hospitality functions. The system permits increased personalization and guest recognition, which helps the staff deliver better services and simplifies work processes.

Asiana guests who are part of a group (for example, company employees, meeting attendees, or a wedding party) will enjoy enhanced communications among their fellow travelers. Each guest can see a directory of all members of the group and contact them directly just by touching a guest's name. The Percipia technology enables this while preserving the privacy and security of each guest. Group leaders can send broadcast messages to all group members ("meet in the lobby for dinner at 8 p.m.").

Mr. Sriharan, managing director of Asiana Hotel Group, selected the Percipia and Cisco technology to cater to his clientele. He anticipates that 90% of his guests will be business travelers from Chennai's booming high-tech industry. The hotel is within three kilometers of many leading global IT firms. Such guests enjoy and even expect sophisticated technology when they travel. "We made this decision because I always believe in taking the long view and investing in the best technology available," said Mr. Sriharan. "Luxury hotel guests demand both opulence and the convenience of world-class technology."

Chris Farrar, president of Percipia, said "Asiana joins a rapidly growing group of high-end hotels around the globe that offer this technology to their guests. Percipia is very pleased to be working with visionary hoteliers from the Asiana Group who will introduce this level of service to travelers in India." Percipia's chief technology officer Hari Kesavan added, "Asiana's strategy in adopting the Cisco and Percipia solutions is squarely aligned with the wants and needs of its target guests."

The five-star Asiana Hotel in Chennai opened this month with 114 spectacular rooms. Asiana is strategically located at Semmencherry, Old Mahabalipuram Road, at the heart of the IT corridor in Chennai. For more information about the hotel, visit http://www.asianahotels.com/.
