Pegasus appoints Sanad as Bahrain sales agent [Gulf Daily News (Bahrain)]

(Gulf Daily News (Bahrain) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MANAMA: Sanad Travel and Tourism has been signed up as the general sales agent for Bahrain by Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines.

The announcement was made by Sanad Travel and Tourism managing director Salman Sanad at the InterContinental Regency Bahrain yesterday, in the presence of senior officials from Bahrain Airport Company, senior management of Pegasus Airlines and business partners from the travel and tourism sector.

Under the agreement, Sanad Travel will provide Pegasus Airlines with full sales and marketing services, as well as customer support, ticketing and administrative facilities.

"We are confident that this agreement will play a key role in further spurring tourism and bolstering business links between Bahrain and the rest of the world and at the same time demonstrate our commitment to country's aviation sector," Mr Sanad said.

"We look forward to receiving Pegasus Airlines at Bahrain International Airport, especially as it is considered a leading low cost carrier in Turkey and has been granted the title of 'Fastest Growing Airline in Europe' for two consecutive years in 2011 and 2012," Bahrain Airport Company vice-president of commercial and marketing Mohammed Khalil said.

"Bahrain will become Pegasus' eighth destination in the Middle East and we expect that this will further increase the passenger traffic between Turkey and the kingdom.

"In 2012, passenger traffic between Turkey and Bahrain grew 22pc followed by 8pc last year taking the total number of passengers to more than 100,000.

"We expect the growth to continue this year.

"Pegasus service to Bahrain will surely facilitate additional tourism and business activities between the two countries and help bolster the strong relationship we share, a relationship which we are keen on developing further in the future," he added.
