STAMFORD, Conn. --(Business Wire)--
General Re Corporation today announced Patricia H. Roberts will retire
as President and CEO of General Star Management Company and Genesis
Management and Insurance Services Corporation effective March 1, 2012.

Ms. Roberts will continue to serve as Chairman during a transitional
period which will extend into the third quarter of 2012.
"I am completely confident that, under Bob Jones' leadership, General
Star will persist in building on its reputation as a leading excess and
surplus lines insurer, while Genesis will continue to thrive as a
specialty reinsurance and insurance provider," said Ms. Roberts. "We are
blessed to have clients who value the dependability and security of both
the Genesis and General Star brands. Our book of business consistently
delivers successful results, and we will continue to expand the reach of
each company, searching for new products and underwriting solutions that
meet our clients' needs, as we navigate a very competitive market. Bob's
experience and enthusiasm will accelerate this momentum."
Mr. Jones began his career at General Reinsurance in 1987 as a property
facultative nderwriter before joining Genesis in 1993. He has held a
variety of leadership positions of increasing responsibility within
Genesis, primarily related to Genesis' position within the governmental
and educational sectors, prior to being named Chief Operating Officer in
2008. Bob holds a B.B.A. from the University of Iowa and has obtained
the Associate in Risk Management designation.
"Under Pat's leadership, General Star and Genesis have prospered as we
strengthened each brand, built client relationships, improved
operational excellence, and developed an outstanding staff," said Bob
Jones. "Pat's imagination, devotion, and incomparable energy have
defined both companies. Her unwavering business commitment and concern
for clients and staff alike will be missed but never forgotten as she
has forever shaped our company."
"As we move ahead, I am excited to offer my expertise and perspective to
the winning mix of a skilled professional staff and a strong wholesale
distribution network that exists within General Star," added Mr. Jones.
"I am equally delighted with the continued opportunity to guide the
Genesis staff and work with the clients I have worked with over the last
19 years. Our companies offer an unrivaled combination of diverse
product mix and unsurpassed financial protection for our insurance and
reinsurance clients."
