Party official: Vietnamese press is a people's forum

(Thai Press Reports Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Section: Regional News - The press is not only the voice of the Party, the State and mass organisations, but also a forum of the people, said a Party official.

Nguyen Khoa Diem, Politbureau member and Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Chairman of the Ideology and Culture Commission, said so at a meeting with the mass media on the occasion of the lunar New Year in Hanoi on Feb. 7.



He told journalists to constantly improve their political knowledge and professional skills, and maintain close contact with the people.

He pointed out the key task for the press in 2006, which is to encourage all people to implement the resolutions to be issued by the up-coming National Party Congress. - VNA
