Pakistan seeks farm produce export cooperation with Vietnam
(Thai Press Reports Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Section: Regional News - Pakistan and Vietnam should take advantage of their experiences in vegetable and fruit production to coordinate on export promotion, said a Pakistani official.
Shomoon Sadiq, Chairman of the Pakistani Association for Exporting Agricultural Products, held a working session with General Secrectary of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Pham Gia Tuc in Hanoion Jan 11.
With a population of 145 million, Pakistan is now a major importer of rice and aquatic products from Vietnam.
Sadiq added that Vietnam and Pakistan could cooperate on production of high-quality vegetables and fruits, especially mangoes and oranges, and export to demanding markets such as the US, the EU and Japan.
The VCCI General Secretary spoke highly of Sadiq's suggestions and affirmed that the VCCI will create favourable conditions for the two countries' businesses to boost cooperation and investment. He also urged the Pakistani side to favour Vietnamese enterprises doing business in this market. - VNA
